Tennis Camp – For The Love of the Game

Denise Murphy, Lake Forest High School’s Varsity Tennis Coach (and founder of the Play for Peace Event that we posted on last week) runs a SUPER fun Tennis Camp in Lake Forest that we want you all to know about. Denise is so awesome and not only wants kids to learn to play and love tennis but she also encourages them to give back. How cool is that?!

Here is the scoop from Denise…

Some of my fondest memories as a child were forged on the tennis court in the summertime, where, at an early age, I came to love the game of tennis.  The intention of my camp is to simply share my love and appreciation of tennis, a sport for life, with your child.

The program will focus on stroke fundamentals, footwork and agility with a strong emphasis on court awareness and etiquette. In addition, match play will be incorporated every day in the afternoon session. While I hope to stir the competitive juices in your child, particular attention will be paid to individual improvement and increased self – esteem.

The goal of my camp is to inspire kids towards greatness ON and OFF the court. In 7 years, we have donated more than $20,500 to various charities.  The amount of money donated is determined by the “points” earned by each camper during skills tests and competitions.  The greater the effort, the bigger their donation!

What a wonderful way to learn about “giving back”
Again this year, proceeds will benefit The House of Peace Domestic Violence Shelter in Lake County

If you have been looking for the right opportunity to introduce your child to tennis, or just the right situation to further your child’s skill, love and appreciation… look no further!

Nature Box – Health Snacks Delivered to You

naturebox 2

Are you a snacker?  I feel like the guidance lately has been that snacks, albeit healthy snacks, in between meals is a good way to maintain weight.  It is hard to know what is considered “healthy” though.  Well, NatureBox, which launched in January, takes all the thinking out of health snacking.

According to NatureBox’s website, the average American eats almost 25% of their calories from snacking? In fact, snacking is the leading cause of childhood obesity. NatureBox helps you get more out of your day without wasting calories on the bad stuff.

Sign me up!  Each NatureBox costs just $19.95 and your monthly box always ships free. You can pause or cancel your delivery at any time.  Each monthly box will include 15 to 20 servings across 5 different NatureBox snacks.

The NatureBox team is so sure that you will like their products that they’ll happily issue a refund if you’re not 100% satisfied.

Also, for those of you that are burned out on making meals and are looking for a healthy meal preparation, don’t forget that Meez Meals is offering our readers, $20 off their first order.

Welcome Steve and Kate’s Camp!

We were so excited to learn recently that Steve and Kate’s Camp is coming to Lake Forest (and Chicago, Northbrook and Wilmette!). The camp has been making summer loads of fun for kids on the West Coast for 32 years!  Still looking around that perfect summer camp…look no further.

We had so much fun cruising around the super fun and colorful website, learning all about what makes Steve and Kate’s cool for kids and parents. There is so much to tell and no one can do it better than our new friends at Steve and Kate’s Camp. Take it away guys…

Steve & Kate’s Camp has been the hottest summer day camp on the west coast for 32 years and is celebrating an inaugural summer in Illinois with 5 locations in Chicago, Lake Forest,Northbrook and Wilmette.  What makes Steve & Kate’s Camp different?  Everything.  Campers design their own adventure everyday from 6 core art and technology programs called Steve& Kate’s Studios which include style (sewing and knitting), building, animation, music recording, dance and cooking. An important feature of these activities is that the campers choose what they’re most interested each day and run with it.  Allowing campers the freedom to blur the line between learning and play unlocks their natural curiosity.  Inflatable zip lines, bumper cars, human hamster cages and a hurricane water slide are just a few of the outrageous pieces of equipment that are brought in weekly for added excitement.  No need to go on a field trip when special performances come to camp from people like Peter Nestler, the Guinness Book of World Records holder for Most Consecutive Jumps on a Unicycle in One Minute or  “Julius Squeezer” a Burmese python. And every Friday, the week is wrapped up with an all-camp pie toss. The props for healthy lunches and snacks go to Google’s former Executive Chef, Nate Keller, who recently joined the team and is designing a menu with dishes from around the world.  Parents also fall in love with the flexible enrollment plan that is unheard of in the industry. Parents can purchase as many days of camp as they’d like, use them whenever and at any location.  Whatever days go unused are automatically refunded at the end of summer in full.  Watch out Chicagoland! Summer will never be the same.

Pilates Of Lake Forest – $15 Off Private/Semi-Privates For MSM Readers!

I am crazy about Pilates of Lake Forest! After a nudge or two from a friend I finally tried a private session on the reformers and mat class last week. I walked out of both feeling AWESOME! Totally high on endorphins after a great workout for the body and the brain.  I had forgotten what a great feeling it is to be strrrreeetched like a rubber band for an hour. I left feeling 5 inches taller!

Pilates of Lake Forest is SO nice and is offering MarketSquareMusings.com readers $15 off on their first reformer session. This is such a generous discount – you have GOT to try it! I promise, you will be hooked! Grab a friend and try a semi-private – such a fun way to spend an hour!

Agnes, who owns Pilates of Lake Forest is super cool. She is confident and encouraging and totally professional. I knew I was in the hands of a pro who made sure every move I made was in proper form so as not to get hurt and to get the maximum benefit from every position. She is was trained in Poland for both pysiotherapy and massage therapy which is when she fell in love with Pilates.

Truly, both the reformer session and the mat class felt more like physical therapy than a workout. Though I felt stronger when I walked out I felt like my muscles got a much needed streghtening and stretching. I swear it almost felt like a massage. Plus, the studio is so zen and chill and clean. Really loved it and I know you will too.

Here are some of the benefits of Pilates (who doesn’t want all of these?!):

Increases strength and muscle tone
Increases flexibility and joint mobility
Improves posture, balance and coordination
Increases bone density and muscle endurance
Decreases back pain
Flatter stomach
Leaner physique
Pilates of Lake Forest offers private classes, semi-private classes, mat classes, massages and mineral analysis. They have fab pricing too – I’m totally getting my next massage here.

Thank you Agnes and Pilates of Lake Forest for offering $15 off of your first private or semi-private class. At just $13 per mat class you will want to get stonger and zenned-out frequently, I promise!

Sundry T’shirts and Dresses

So psyched to find Sundry. I really love every one of these slouchy, comfy t’shirts and dresses. It’s a super new line by a guy from the south of France who now lives in southern California. Kind of makes me wish I was living on the beach in California. I can’t wait for warmer weather so that we can pull out short sleeves and tank tops. I’ll be sure to order a bunch from Sundry. Don’t you love them?!  In Chicago, you can find the line at Krista K (773.248.1967) but you can also find on www.shopbop.com or and of these stores. Check out the groovy website here.
