Two recent Lake Forest High School graduates with a passion for conservation and a gift for retail created a clothing line called Seam St in 2013. This clothing line is the brainchild of Adam LaVitola of Lake Bluff, and Sean McCauley of Lake Forest, both still in college! Starting as a Facebook page to market vintage sports jerseys, this little business has turned into a thriving, nationwide venture. Their clothing features a turtle logo to represent a “go easy” lifestyle and is the perfect marriage between preppy and laid back featuring classic crews — some with elbow patches (love!), polos, button downs, shorts and more. And, if you didn’t already admire these two, they even donate 10% of all their profits to National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation. We think big things are in store for Adam and Seam and as we all know, slow and steady always wins the race!
Lucky for us, Seam St is generously offering MarketSquareMusings.com readers 15% off on all purchases from now until the end of May! Just use the promo code MSM15.
The Yeti Colster is the Ultimate Beer Koozie! It is the newest product in the Yeti Rambler series – and like all Yeti products – this koozie does not disappoint. It keeps your drink (can or bottle) cold — really cold — all the way until the last sip. You do pay for this luxury, however, as it retails for almost $40, although can be found for less if you search around a bit – like here. Instead of foam and neoprene it’s made of 18/8 stainless steel with double-wall vacuum insulation. If you will spend a lot of time outdoors this summer, or have a fun beach trip coming up, plan on purchasing the Yeti Colster. We think it would make a great hostess gift, as well. Cheers to cold beverages this Summer!
Speaking of cold beverages this summer – be sure to try this one, but more on that later this week!
This girl kicks serious butt. She is the master of the pull-up. After watching her video on the 12 Minute Athlete App on How To Master The Pull Up I raced out to Sports Authority and bought a pull up bar for myself. It hangs so elegantly in our foyer. Everyday I tried one. Eventually two. Finally three. It’s so much fun to work toward something and accomplish!
This girl has an awesomely adorable App with super quick workouts that you can do in your family room everyday – including lunges, planks, box jumps and the pull-up.
She is darling and her videos are so groovy – best little tunes and graphics. Check it out here.
I have fallen in love with everything at Ikea in this high-gloss red. Book shelves, desks, coffee tables, consoles. I’d take it all.
Bright, shiney, red belongs in every home, don’t you think?
Check out all things red here.
How beautiful is this salad! I am going to make it this weekend (sans olives)! Happy Friday!
Ingredients (organic and non-GMO whenever possible):
– For the Dressing
1/2 cup Greek yogurt or coconut milk
1/2 cup your favorite mild or medium Salsa
2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Earth Balance vegannaise <– I would use “Just Mayo” by Hampton Creek. It’s #vegan. :))
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro leaves
1 tablespoon olive oil (unrefined, cold-pressed, extra-virgin)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 heaping tablespoon chopped green onions
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
– For the Salad
1 to 2 heads romaine lettuce, roughly chopped
1 can black beans, drained and rinsed <–avoid canned food if at all possible; most canned foods are a source of the endocrine disrupting chemical BPA.
1 medium red onion, sliced or chopped, your choice
1/2 cup green olives, sliced
3/4 cup corn kernels (thawed from frozen or fresh from the cob – no need to cook) <– you can purchase frozen non-GMO verified sweet corn in the freezer section of most grocery stores. If you’re scared, you could always sub fresh mango.
1 avocado, pit removed, peeled and chopped
1 orange bell pepper, chopped
3 cups cherry tomatoes, halved or quartered (about 2 cups after slicing)
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, dill, and/or basil, chopped
Kage is baaaack and better than ever! After relocating from NYC to Austin, Kage took some needed time off to get her family situated in their new home town. Now that the dust has settled, Kage is back offering a more limited selection of handbags, but as the saying goes, “less is more” and this is definitely the case for, Kage! Check out her line of clutches for Spring – especially her new Harper Flap Clutch, named after her niece. The Harper Flap Clutch comes in Rose Shagreen (featured in post), Turquoise Shagreen and Whiskey Embossed Croc and features a magnetic flap top, front zip pocket behind flap, exterior back slide pocket, one zip and one open pocket and suede lining.
